بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
به نام خداوند رحمتگر مهربان
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ ﴿۱﴾
مگر نديدى پروردگارت با پيلداران چه كرد (۱)
Have you not seen ˹O Prophet˺ how your Lord dealt with the Army of the Elephant?
أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ ﴿۲﴾
آيا نيرنگشان را بر باد نداد (۲)
Did He not frustrate their scheme?
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ ﴿۳﴾
و بر سر آنها دسته دسته پرندگانى ا بابيل فرستاد (۳)
For He sent against them flocks of birds,
تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ ﴿۴﴾
[كه] بر آنان سنگهايى از گل [سخت] مى افكندند (۴)
that pelted them with stones of baked clay,
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَأْكُولٍ ﴿۵﴾
و [سرانجام خدا] آنان را مانند كاه جويده شده گردانيد (۵)
leaving them like chewed up straw
Surah al-Fil, meaning the elephant, narrates with only 5 verses and 23 words the very well-known historical account of the army of Abraha with a number of elephants proceeding to attack the house of Ka'ba. It took place in the year when Muhammad (S) was born. It is the 105th surah of the Quran.
What is the story of sūrah elephant?
Surah Al-Fil talks about the annihilation of Abraha's army from Sana'a (Yemen). Abraha served as a governor for the Abyssinian king, whose kingdom extended to Yemen. To please his king, Abraha aimed to develop his country and strengthen the kingdom's sovereignty. He was jealous of the attention devoted to Makkah.
This Surah, as its name indicates, refers to the well-known historical event that happened in the year of the birth of the holy Prophet (S) when Allah protected the Ka'aba against the attack of the army of pagans who, riding on the backs of elephants, came from Yemen intending to destroy it.
Elephants are a sacred symbol in Hindu and Buddhist religions, representing loyalty, power, wisdom, and fertility. Elephants are associated with water and rainfalls, and the shape, size, and color of their bodies are said to be symbols of clouds.
The reference of an elephant is just an example that if a strong enemy use that example in frighten a persons faith or anyone who uses God's creation to boastfully transgress against god and his faith will face a very bad ending. God will do anything to stop these.

The Elephant refers to a very famous incident that took place in the Arabian Peninsula in the same year Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, was born. It demonstrates how God protected the land that was to become the focal point of the last revelation.

Elephant meat is also forbidden by Jewish dietary laws because they do not have cloven hooves and they are not ruminants.
