Why do Jinns enter a human body?
Here are three reasons why a Jinn would enter a human body.
- If they don't like a person: A Jinns might enter a human body if he does not like the person to oppress him or her. They would love to have control of you so that they could cause you harm and make themselves happy over it.
- If they love the person: The Jinn might fall in love with you when you are all alone appreciating your beauty. The Jinn gets attracted especially to woman as major cases of being possessed by Jinn because of love factor has been reported in females. This is the reason why Prophet Muhammad has asked us to recite 'bismillahe rahmane rahim' when we change our clothes.
- Unintentional harm to the Jinn: A Jinn might enter your body because you have caused unintentional harm to the Jinn. For instance, you threw something in a corner and at that corner, a Jinn was resting. You obviously don't know if the Jinn was there, yet now he is angry with you. He wants to get you.
When do Jinns enter a human body?

Now the question is that how can one avoid Jinns? Can a human body be possessed by Jinn at any time?
The answer is no! the Jinns needs to fulfill these for conditions to enter a human body.
- When the person is extremely angry: An extremely angry mood allows the Jinn to enter the human body. However, if you change your position it would not only reduce your anger bUt prevent Jinns from entering your body.Prophet Muhammad said when one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good;otherwise he sould lie down
- When you are extremely fearful: An extremely fearful state of mind makes you vulnerable for Jinn to take your possession. He finds the place to enter your body due to your nervous condition.
- Excessive heedlessness: If you are not attentive to Allah, it is the perfect situation for a Jinn to enter your body and control it. For example, you are not reciting bismillah before entering the washroom or eating your meal. The best way to protect yourself from the attack of a Jinn is to be in Wudu all the time. When your are clean (in wudu), you are in the protection of Allah.
- When you are at the peak of a desire: Jinns also enter a body in a state when you are at the peak of a wrongful desire e.g. while watching porn, you are focused on that allowing Jinn to enter your body.
Just like humans the Jinn must eat to survive. However, their food is actually the left over scraps from humans. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) could see the Jinns and saw where some of them lived. He permitted the Jinns who were Muslim to have whichever bones were leftover from our meals so long as Allah’s name had been pronounced over the meat before it was slaughtered.

The Jinn also live amongst humans and favour the dirtiest places. The homes of the Jinn include bathrooms, graveyards, garbage dumps and any place that is filthy. So, the Jinns are living right in our own homes! The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) gave us detailed instructions for living amongst the Jinn who absolutely can harm humans by the Will of Allah. For example, before entering the bathroom Muslims should say ‘Bismillah’ (In the Name of Allah’ and upon exiting ‘AstfkrAllah’ (Allah forgive me). These may seem only mere words but they serve to protect us. There have been numerous verified reports of Jinns possessing a human’s body or doing some harm to humans by Allah’s leave. Most humans assume that their houses are haunted with ghosts having unfinished business when in reality it is simply Jinns. Also, the Muslim household must be impeccably clean so as not to entice the Jinn to reside in other places in our homes.
4 degrees of demonic possession
![]()
Possession doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process, and it always requires an open door: playing with Ouija boards, attending or conducting séances, even going on a ghost hunt with friends. No matter how innocent one’s intentions, dark spirits can take advantage of such opportunities. In his 1990 book “An Exorcist Tells His Story,” Father Gabriele Amorth, chief exorcist of Rome who passed away Sept. 16 at the age of 91, identified the following stages of demonic activity:
1. Infestation. This is “haunted house” type stuff: footsteps, voices, apparitions, furniture or other objects moving without human agency, odors with no discernible source. Rather than directly affecting people, infestations affect only property, objects, or even animals.

2. Oppression. Activity steps up with physical attacks, sleep disturbances including regular nightmares, frequent and severe illnesses, major depression or anxiety, severe financial or employment problems, and relationship troubles. While these things happen in the normal course of life, all of them happening at once or in rapid succession could be a sign of demonic presence.
3. Obsession. As the name implies, at this stage the afflicted person has a hard time functioning, being constantly preoccupied with thoughts of the demonic activity commandeering his or her life, and frequently with thoughts of suicide as well. Sleep becomes nearly impossible. All three of these stages can be addressed by a competent deliverance minister. However, the last stage is reserved for official exorcists...
4. Possession. Contrary to popular belief, possession is not demons entering a person’s body and taking over his or her soul. A person’s free will is never removed, only severely compromised. In possession, a person is so physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually broken down by going through the other three stages that demonic spirits are able to seize occasional control over that person’s actions.
Telltale signs of possession include superhuman strength, speaking in a language the victim doesn’t know, inordinate aversion to holy objects, knowledge of events or facts the victim could not possibly know, and according to Diocese of San Jose exorcist Gary Thomas (whose story was made famous in the book and movie “The Rite”), changes in facial features.
